Changes to Delta Dental Partnership

A Letter to Our Delta Dental Patients

We hope this letter finds you well. We are writing regarding our relationship with Delta Dental. After YEARS of deliberation, we have decided to end our participating relationship with Delta Dental. This will become effective October 1st, 2024.

Why are we becoming an out-of-network provider? Delta Dental is making it harder for participating providers to provide optimum care to its members. Over the years, it has become clear to us that Delta Dental has less interest in optimal oral healthcare for patients and more interest in maximizing their own profits. Many insurance companies have not increased their discounted fee schedules; some have even decreased their fee! Delta Dental’s reduced fee schedule requires our office to accept 30-35% of our fees. Delta Dental has the biggest discounted fees out of all PPO insurance in the area. (They suck! as Dr. Alrez would say)

We have always maintained a high standard of care for our patients and have been unwilling to compromise or cut corners just because of insurance company shortcomings. We have avoided using cheap materials, overseas laboratories, and outdated technology to provide the best care to our clients. In today’s climate, many dental offices are turning into factories where care is rushed and impersonal. As many of you know Dr. Alrez is a talker (lol!) and likes to spend time with every patient to provide the highest quality of care. Our contract and relationship are with YOU our patient, not Delta.

What does this mean for you and what will change? Delta Dental will likely send you a letter informing you that the practice will be an “out-of-network provider”. This letter is meant to encourage you to see an in-network provider. But we hope you will stay with us and not allow insurance companies to dictate your oral health. We will continue to file claims as a courtesy. You will be responsible for payment at the time of service. Delta Dental will send you the check rather than mailing it to our office. A change in your level of coverage is possible. To fully understand your specific dental plan’s benefits and reimbursement, we encourage you to reach out to your HR department to see if there are any other options for insurance. Kara and Nancy are here to offer help as well, in whatever capacity they can. However, Delta Dental does not always share out-of-network plan benefits with us.

It is our fondest hope that you will continue to stay a part of our dental family. You have our utmost commitment to continue delivering the same world-class care you trust us to provide. Besides, where else will you have fun at a dentist’s office? You will never find a dentist who loves her patients like Dr. Alrez does!

Sincerely,
Your Friends at Alrez Family Dentistry
